Lindsay's practice of embodied movement through the exploration of yoga began in 1995, and she has studied yoga within many traditions in India, Thailand, Nepal and the U.S.
Forever a student, Lindsay has been guiding classes since 2001, with the intention to hold space and co-create a courageous container for practitioners to deepen into their experience at their unique pace, with room for variation and with a sense of honor and trust for their divine individuality. Her fluid, heart-centered and thoughtfully sequenced mentoring style is steeped in gratitude and reverence for the rich culture from which these yogic practices come, along with the recognition that its roots are not her own.
Her weekly drop-in classes (spanning from gentle & restorative to moderate & vigorous in nature) are drawn through a social justice lens and blend seeds of intention, gratitude, and inspired themes into a practice that extends beyond physical asana and pranayama and strives to embody the 8 limbs of yoga, as well as yogic philosophy, vichara (critical thinking), astrology and the natural world, current and social justice issues, and more. These offerings recognize and aim to nourish the cathartic and alchemical power of being in one's body and exploring heart and mind (while remembering that Self is not the body, the heart or the mind, but the one who is watching...). This provides the opportunity to transform practice into prayer and to recognize yoga as a path toward true unity by studying and embodying its teachings and how they relate to dynamics of privilege, power, oppression and the ultimate goal of liberation. Lindsay believes that with immense compassion for ourselves and others, coupled with courageous vulnerability, we are able to build and sustain the resilience needed to hold both the light and the shadow that make up our diverse human experiences. She appreciates the gifts of an embodied practice in facilitating this resilience and feels deeply honored to share in this way.
In addition, Lindsay offers private sessions, catered to support each client's personal journey, as well as guided Yoga Nidra workshops and healing touch in monthly Restorative Yoga with Therapeutic Massage offerings. She feels strongly about equity and recognizes the uneven playing field in life and, in particular, in the wellness world. As a Studio Space Holder, Lindsay is committed to making Embodied's offerings accessible to as many as possible, and she is more than happy to connect individually around sliding scale/equity/social justice pricing.
